“ In my dealings with Shawna as a placed contractor through Z-Tech Staffing, I can’t say enough positive things about her. She blends good sense, relationship-building and spot-on intuition to match employers with potential employees and to nurture the relationship long term. And I have to give her credit for helping me ultimately secure a full time position at what once was only supposed to be a short-term contract.
The job description for the contract position Shawna was looking for wasn’t fully vetted. So, when Shawna contacted me, she wasn’t able to provide a complete job description. But she had a “good feeling” that I had the right skill set to finish the job. And she was right! I found out later that she was able to make this determination because she was in constant contact with this client and had developed a sense of what they needed even if they didn’t say it explicitly.
Shortly after being hired as a contractor at my current position, there was some turnover that greatly impacted the political climate in which I suddenly found myself in. With her guidance, I was able to help set expectations and navigate this climate with a certain amount of grace. She offered encouragement, straight talk and a balanced approach every step of the way. Whenever an issue (perceived or not) cropped up, Shawna kept the lines of communication open and I knew I could count on her to help me through it. She always told me that what I said was confidential, and based on my interactions with my co-workers, it seemed that she kept her word. But I could also tell that her hand had touched some of these sticking situations and she helped smooth things out.
In a couple of instances, I was having some communication issues that I felt were beyond my understanding to resolve. After conferring with Shawna, I gained a much clearer understanding of the context and was able to devise a new approach to get things moving again. In my discussions with her, she remained non-judgmental and very insightful and it empowered me to convey my thoughts that fostered a shared understanding of approach to the project to my colleagues and boss. I have appreciated Shawna’s feedback on any situation. She has emphasized the strengths while conveying improvements or modes of resolving conflict.
She has also been an important resource for resolving politically sensitive issues. Without getting into too much detail, I suddenly found myself in a situation where I felt really trapped – knowing that action or inaction could have potentially dire consequences for either me or the parties involved. This was a unique situation in Shawna’s experience. But by leveraging the structure and knowledge of her relationships, she made good judgments and used discretion to get the situation addressed and ultimately resolved.
I highly recommend Shawna and her skills as a recruiter. If I find myself looking for work again, I look forward to working with her again!"
